100: Abolition of the ticket system

The online payment system is a very mature technological trend; it had already been fully implemented as early as fifty years ago.

The programming AI model developed by Shen Yuan is extremely fast when it comes to coding.

Tian Ming sat behind Shen Yuan, watching lines of code automatically generate, run, and test, filled with admiration.

"Honestly, you are truly amazing!" Tian Ming couldn't help but exclaim.

Shen Yuan smiled slightly and said, "It's not that I'm amazing, it's the AI that's amazing. If I had to code all of this myself, it would take at least a month."

"But in the Shelter, only you can operate it! Now I understand what 'computing power is productivity' truly means," Tian Ming said with deep emotion.

As soon as this was mentioned, Shen Yuan immediately became excited. She stopped her work, turned around to look at Tian Ming, and said with a smile, "Boss, actually, as long as the computing power is strong enough, humans only need to do assisting work. Things like industrial design and so on can all be handed over to machines. The role humans play in this is to provide ideas and then correct errors."

Tian Ming paused slightly, then laughed: "You, this clearly has a hidden meaning, are you thinking about your supercomputer again?"

"Hehehe, Boss, you understand me. If we can go to the cloud data center and get the core data from various companies, our Shelter can rebuild human civilization," Shen Yuan said.

"You have big ambitions, but we have to wait until all our defenses are built before we can start expanding the data center. That thing consumes a lot of electricity. Let's solve the problem of self-sufficiency first."

Tian Ming was not in a hurry. How could such a matter be rushed? No matter how powerful machines were, they still needed people to manage and maintain them. Without relevant personnel guarantees, Tian Ming would not touch it.

His principle for managing the Shelter was to only take on what he could handle. Taking on too much would lead to indigestion and turn him into a nanny. Tian Ming would not do such thankless work.

Shen Yuan turned her head back, continuing to debug and set up the payment system exclusive to the Shelter.

"Sister Mengqi, come here for a moment!" Shen Yuan said to Zhang Mengqi.

Zhang Mengqi walked over and leaned down, looking at the screen.

Shen Yuan asked, "Your payment wristband, it runs on the IoT system, right?"

Zhang Mengqi nodded: "Yes, that's right. Within the coverage area of the base station, direct payments can be made."

"How about we merge the meal tickets and item vouchers into currency points? No need to separate them; they can directly interoperate. What do you think?" Shen Yuan suggested.

Zhang Mengqi glanced at Tian Ming. In the Shelter, the balance between food and goods was not truly equal. If they interoperated, it might cause confusion in item allocation.

"This matter still needs to be discussed with the Boss," Zhang Mengqi said.

Tian Ming looked puzzled and said, "Ask me? Why ask me? I don't understand economics as well as you two. I'm the Boss, not an encyclopedia!"

Shen Yuan sighed and said, "You are the Boss! If you don't make the decision on this, who will?"

Tian Ming smiled and shook his head, then spoke into his earpiece: "Lin Yue, Mo Santong, come to the Laboratory."

About ten minutes later, Lin Yue and Mo Santong hurried over. Zhang Mengqi explained the situation to them, and both fell into deep thought.

A moment later, Lin Yue spoke: "Boss, in my personal opinion, interoperability is more conducive to management, and we won't need to complicate material distribution here as much. So, I agree with improving it to currency points, which are equivalent to money."

Tian Ming nodded slightly, then looked at Mo Santong and asked, "What do you say? Do you favor keeping them separate or merging them?"

Mo Santong chuckled and said, "I agree with merging them. One currency unit is enough within the Shelter. Let's adopt a point system. Besides convenience, it will also be easier for any other types of reforms and transitions in the future."

"Listening to you, it sounds like there's a hidden meaning in your words," Tian Ming asked.

Mo Santong nodded: "Boss, actually, our Shelter only has a thousand people. The economic scale isn't very large, but that doesn't hinder future development. Currently, we are managing everything. With a unified point system, we can outsource some tasks. To give a simple example, let capable people work independently. We just provide points, and let them distribute them themselves."

Tian Ming understood and said, "You mean to let the Shelter form a corporate and enterprise-like structure."

Shen Yuan said, "There are too few people; this won't work."

Mo Santong waved his hand and said, "Little Shen, I know the current limitation is the population issue, but we can't let the Boss be the factory. For some small items, such as metal castings and daily necessities, if there are capable people like that, let them build their own factories. Our direct departments will provide technical and equipment support. This way, the materials in the Shelter will enter a positive cycle. If the Boss has to make everything, how tiring would that be?"

Tian Ming nodded in deep agreement: "Alright, alright, this idea is excellent."

Everyone present remained silent. In truth, even establishing a factory in a small workshop model would strain the Shelter's population.

This problem was visible to everyone. Although demand wasn't high, to have a complete range of categories, everyone would have to become a producer. However, it had to be said that this was indeed a very good idea. It was just a bit too ahead of its time.

Shen Yuan nodded and said, "Then we will adopt the point system, supporting peer-to-peer transactions between wristbands. This way, every flow of funds can be traced."

The Shelter's ticket system was officially abolished, replaced by a point system. This point distribution system was equivalent to a bank. And labor remuneration was directly distributed to the managers.

The managers would receive the remuneration and then settle with the laborers. This would spread out the workload, and every transaction would be recorded, so there was no fear of anyone acting illicitly; corruption would not exist at all.

Having received Tian Ming's approval, Zhang Mengqi immediately began preparing for the payment wristbands, while Shen Yuan started debugging the algorithm. The amount of materials in the Shelter determined the total points, but friends who understand economics know that slight inflation is beneficial for stimulating market vitality.

Therefore, with this system, points were also slightly over-issued. This way, the points in everyone's hands would not be in a tight state. Such a small economy is inherently not complex; with a small number of people, it's very easy to stabilize the income and expenditure ratio through dynamic adjustments.

Everyone discussed the details a bit more before officially finalizing it. At this time, Gouzi also returned, holding his phone. He said breathlessly, "Some people's faces were really too dirty. I just made them wash up, so it took a bit longer. Is that okay, Little Shen?"

"It's fine, the timing is just right."
