79: This night was wonderful and fruitful

Inside the Medical Room, Tian Ming sat by Shen Yuan’s bedside. The little girl was already asleep, her face flushed, and her body temperature had not yet come down.

“Boss, our plane has taken off! You really have to thank me!” Shen Yuan’s eyes were tightly closed as she murmured in her sleep.

Tian Ming looked at her talking in her sleep, a slight smile appearing on his face: “Okay, I should thank you. But in the future, try to stay up less. Your body isn’t made of iron.”

“Bad guy, my first kiss is gone!” Shen Yuan frowned, seemingly reliving the scene of that day in her dream.

Tian Ming’s face was covered in black lines. To be fair, what happened that day was his first time too. At the time, he was eager to save her and didn’t think that much.

Shen Yuan cursed a few words and then fell back asleep. Tian Ming touched her forehead; it was still burning hot.

He casually replicated a cooling patch and placed it on Shen Yuan’s forehead. Shen Yuan, however, continued to talk in her sleep from time to time, and Tian Ming just sat there listening.

The next morning, when Shen Yuan opened her eyes, she found Tian Ming leaning back in a chair, resting with his eyes closed.

Shen Yuan’s complexion was much better, and her fever had subsided. Looking at Tian Ming, a slight smile appeared on her face. She quietly got up and picked up the cold-weather gear from the side.

“Where are you going?” Tian Ming said, but he did not open his eyes.

“To the bathroom. I’ve had so much IV fluid, I feel like I’m going to burst.”

Tian Ming sat up straight, stretched, and then got up to loosen his muscles and bones. Taking care of Shen Yuan last night indeed allowed him to hear a lot of this girl’s embarrassing past. Her parents were both professors, and her family was well-off, but she was truly like a tomboy, very mischievous.

Her sleep-talking included things like, “Dad, don’t hit me, I was just curious why your razor could shave.” and “Mom, I just wanted to see why your hair dryer didn’t have fan blades, I didn’t break it on purpose.”

It seemed that young Shen Yuan must have been a highly skilled, destructive demolition expert.

When Shen Yuan came out of the bathroom, she saw the mischievous smile at the corner of her boss’s mouth and immediately frowned. She walked over, sat on the hospital bed, and looked at Tian Ming.

“Boss, thank you for staying with me.”

Tian Ming, however, smiled and waved his hand: “No need to thank me. This night was quite spectacular, full of gains, and well worth it.”

Shen Yuan immediately felt that something was amiss. Not only did her boss not complain or grumble at all, but he seemed very happy. According to her boss’s character, this shouldn’t be the case.

Shen Yuan stuck out her tongue after hearing that and stopped talking. Shen Yi glared fiercely at his sister, then turned to Tian Ming and said, “Boss, please give my sister two days off. She’s been holed up in the Laboratory day and night recently. I’ve told her many times, but she won’t listen, staying up until the early hours every day.”

Before Tian Ming could answer, Shen Yuan quickly interjected: “Time off? What time off? My helicopter isn’t even finished yet! Brother, I’m fine, it’s just a small cold. I promise to go to bed before 11 PM from now on, okay?”

“Sleeping at 11 PM? Are you trying to fly to the sky? You have nothing to do these two days. It’s okay if the plane is delayed by two days,” Tian Ming said.

Shen Yi cast a grateful look at Tian Ming: “Thank you, Boss, for your understanding.”

“Both of you are important personnel of the Shelter. Don’t push yourselves so hard. When it’s time to rest, you should rest. Things should be done during the day.”

Shen Yuan mumbled, “Boss, don’t listen to my brother’s nonsense. I stay up late just because I like staying up late, not because I have some task to complete.”

Tian Ming waved his hand, interrupting Shen Yuan’s words: “Alright, stop talking. If you really stay up late and die, your brother definitely won’t let me off the hook. From now on, in the Shelter, the talent building must turn off its lights and go to bed before 9 PM. Staying up all night will not be allowed anymore. Do whatever you need to do during the day; nighttime is for sleeping.”

Shen Yi quickly nodded and said, “I agree with the Boss’s suggestion.”

“What are you agreeing to? You agree?” Shen Yuan was not happy, because the Boss had said that once the Shelter was complete, he would go look for an official Shelter to see if he could find her parents.

She was working so hard because she hoped the Shelter could quickly enter a self-sufficient phase. That way, the Boss wouldn’t have to act like a tool every day, constantly replenishing fuel, solving this, solving that. When the Boss had time, Shen Yuan wanted to go out with Tian Ming to find her parents.

Even if there was a tiny bit of hope, Shen Yuan was unwilling to give up. Her parents were professors, highly educated, and would definitely be prioritized by the officials.
