173: I'll teach you how to be a man
Tian Ming simply took the list and the identification badge. The moment he touched the patrol uniform, his own clothes instantly transformed into the patrol officer's uniform.
Watching such a miraculous scene, the woman didn't dare to breathe loudly.
Tyrant Dragon, the leader of the Xuan Long Gang, could at most synthesize food and did not possess replication abilities, but this person in front of her could change in myriad ways, indeed much more formidable than Tyrant Dragon.
"How do you treat those people? Can you sleep at night?" Tian Ming asked coldly as he put on his identification badge.
"If we didn't do it, we would become slaves and piggies. There's no morality in this place, only enslavement and being enslaved. Conscience and morality don't exist here," the woman said truthfully.
The Xuan Long Gang had become a human breeding farm for zombies. It wasn't that no one resisted; it was that those who resisted were either fed to the zombies or became slaves providing blood. In this place, people with conscience and humanity don't live long. There is no order, only barbarism and cruelty.
Tian Ming ignored the woman's nonsense. He said indifferently, "Alright, that's how it is. If you don't want to die, don't play any tricks."
The woman nodded slightly: "I wouldn't dare!"
"What's your name?" Tian Ming asked.
"Li Qing!"
"Alright, I've noted it."
Tian Ming exited the interrogation room. The guard who escorted him was still outside. Seeing Tian Ming had already changed into the patrol officer's uniform, he instantly smiled knowingly and said, "Brother, what did I tell you? You definitely wouldn't become a slave."
Tian Ming nodded slightly and said, "What happened to the person who came with me?"
"What else could happen? He became a slave and was assigned to East District One," the guard said indifferently.
Tian Ming frowned slightly and said, "I'm going on patrol. We can talk later when I have time." After speaking, he left directly!
The underground air-raid Shelters were basically composed of tunnels. However, the Xuan Long Gang had expanded upon this, and the entire underground facility was interconnected, with the various tunnels alone being enough to get one lost.
The area Tian Ming patrolled, as a slave living quarter, had incredibly foul air. Rooms were packed full, like livestock pens. The areas along the walls on both sides of the tunnels were also covered with cardboard boxes, on which people lay densely.
In the North District, there was a patrol point where Tian Ming received other equipment with his identification badge: an electric baton, a leather whip, and a sharp dagger. He patrolled while observing his surroundings.
Most of the slaves here were male. They wore shackles and participated in tasks like cleaning, emptying toilets, and transporting water.
The living conditions here were too poor; the air was filled with the smell of feces and urine, and there wasn't even a sewer.
The slaves transported the waste produced by these people to a central point, where it was then converted into food by the leader of the Xuan Long Gang. This was something Tian Ming didn't even dare to do, yet the Xuan Long Gang had already achieved an ecological cycle.
Although there were some losses, it only required very few external materials to keep this place running continuously. It was utterly chaotic here; anyone who took a liking to someone could go up and force them into a fight.
If a woman became pregnant, her treatment would actually improve. Firstly, she would receive more food, and she would be isolated until the child was born.
The entire model of the Xuan Long Gang was no different from a large-scale livestock farm.
Many slaves had dull and empty eyes. The food they ate was a starchy paste, with some vitamins added to ensure these people could live a little longer.
Tian Ming found this feed-like food nauseating just by looking at it, let alone eating it. After patrolling for two or three hours, Tian Ming finally found Zou Ping in the East District corridor.
There was no private room, just a piece of cardboard on the ground. In front of Zou Ping was a large stainless steel bowl and an iron spoon, with a light yellow, viscous paste in the bowl. If it weren't for the lack of odor, Tian Ming would have even suspected it was someone's fresh diarrhea.
Zou Ping was using the spoon, taking mouthfuls, one after another. Tian Ming felt a bit ashamed watching him. Zou Ping stopped when he saw Tian Ming arrive.
Tian Ming squatted down and said in a low voice, "I've pretty much figured things out. You stay here. I'll deal with all the management of the Xuan Long Gang."
Zou Ping nodded slightly and said, "Boss, you promised me you'd save my family first."
"What are your daughter and wife's names?" Tian Ming asked. He could check the slave list to see if they were there.
"My daughter is Zou Shuyi, and my wife is Qin Cui," Zou Ping quickly said, then slipped an oval pendant into Tian Ming's hand.
"Inside is a micro-engraving, photos of my daughter and wife."
Tian Ming took the pendant and looked at it closely. The miniature photos were indeed very blurry, but Tian Ming could roughly make out their appearances.
"Alright, I'll find a way to locate them. Once I find them, I'll turn the entire management against themselves. Then you take your daughter and wife and leave first. I've already had Zheng Haoyu send people to stake out around North Park. After meeting up with them, quickly return to the Shelter," Tian Ming said in a low voice.
"Thank you, Boss!" Zou Ping said gratefully.
......
"Hey, brother, what are you muttering about with a slave?"
A burly man with several patrol officers walked over. This man clearly meant trouble, with a full, fleshy face that didn't look like a good person at all.
"Are you talking to me?" Tian Ming remained calm, stood up, and looked sideways at the burly man.
The man narrowed his eyes, a hint of impatience in his tone: "Do you know who I am, to speak to me in such a tone?"
"Crazy. What do I care who you are?" Tian Ming said, and walked away without looking back. He left a group of people stunned in place. This new patrol officer's attitude immediately angered the man.
"Damn it, check for me: when did the patrol member with identification number 11249527 enter the system, and who registered him?" the man demanded.
A patrol officer beside him quickly pulled out a phone, but the underground local area network WiFi signal was very poor, and this personnel registration system was also very poorly made. A moment later, he found the information.
"Sister Li registered him, about three hours ago. No backing or connections."
The man said fiercely towards Tian Ming's back, "He thought he had connections with Brother Long. Brothers, grab him for me. Lock him in solitary confinement, and I'll teach him how to behave."
In an instant, Tian Ming was surrounded. Tian Ming stopped, looked at these people, and said, "What are you doing? Don't you see I have an identification badge on me?"
The man slowly walked over and said, "According to the rules of the Xuan Long Gang, insubordination to a superior means three days in solitary confinement and 100 electric baton strikes."
Tian Ming secretly laughed to himself. This rotten place still has rules?
"When did I talk back to a superior?" Tian Ming retorted.
The man gave a cold laugh and said, "I am the captain of the patrol team. Grab him, lock him in solitary confinement. I need to teach this kid how to behave."
