401: Mechanical Ascension of Ordinary People

Mo Fei lay on the experimental bed, every cell in his body seemingly enduring endless torment. His consciousness fluctuated in the darkness; there was no breath, no heartbeat.

Nanobots were frantically replicating inside his body, using his cells as raw material to construct a brand new mechanical body. This process was filled with pain and torture, as if millions of ants were gnawing at him, every inch of his skin burning as if by fire.

Mo Fei's consciousness struggled in the pain; he felt as if he had been torn in half. One half was the physical pain and torment, the other half was the clarity and helplessness of his consciousness.

At this point, giving up was impossible, and even seeking death was out of the question. He tried hard to maintain his consciousness, otherwise, all the suffering would be in vain.

He clung tightly to his consciousness, not letting it sink. He imagined his wife and children smiling at him, imagined himself standing on the defensive line, weapon in hand, fighting zombies. These images filled his heart with strength and courage, allowing him to persevere.

Time passed minute by minute, and the nanobot replication and replacement process gradually neared its end. Mo Fei finally couldn't withstand the fatigue, and when the Red Crystal Core original solution injection was completed, he fell into an unconscious state.

Professor Zhang was startled, looking at the screen where the replacement progress had stopped at ninety-nine point nine percent, feeling a bit annoyed.

"Why couldn't he hold on a little longer?"

Mo Fei lay quietly on the experimental bed, his face pale, as if all his vitality had been drained.

Professor Zhang stood by the experimental bed, frowning as he looked at the data on the screen. He knew that Mo Fei was on the verge of life and death, and the success or failure of the experiment hinged on this. He couldn't help but feel some regret; if he could have held on a little longer, perhaps the entire replacement process could have been completed.

Tian Ming looked at the pale-faced Mo Fei, then glanced at Professor Zhang.

"Did it fail?" Tian Ming asked.

"Perhaps. There are still eight minutes. If his consciousness doesn't revive within eight minutes, then it will be considered a failure!"

Professor Zhang sighed slightly. Things had already progressed to this point; there was no turning back. He could only hope for a miracle.

The atmosphere in the Laboratory became extremely tense; everyone held their breath, waiting for a miracle to happen. Time seemed to freeze at this moment, every second feeling extraordinarily long.

Aside from Professor Zhang, all those involved in this research were unwilling to give up; their theory only lacked a successful case. If it succeeded, it would at least prove that this path was correct.

Five minutes later, the data on the screen began to slowly fluctuate. The ninety-nine point nine percent progress bar began to advance slowly, and although the speed was extremely slow, it seemed to bring hope to everyone.

Professor Zhang's eyes were fixed on the screen, afraid of missing any change. He knew this was a critical moment for Mo Fei's life and death, and also a critical moment for the success or failure of the experiment.

As the progress bar slowly advanced, Mo Fei's body also began to show subtle changes. His complexion gradually regained a touch of color.

When the progress bar finally reached one hundred percent, the entire Laboratory erupted in cheers. Professor Zhang excitedly clenched his fists, tears glistening in his eyes. He knew they had succeeded!

And at this moment, Mo Fei, though not fully conscious, had undergone earth-shattering changes in his body.

He was no longer an ordinary person, but a powerful human with a mechanical body, and the success of the experiment also meant that the base's superpower research had entered a brand new phase.

Using technology to modify the human body to turn ordinary people into superhumans, this path was viable. Although it currently required substances like the Red Crystal Core, with further research, a better alternative would surely be found.

As the cheers in the Laboratory gradually subsided, everyone's gaze refocused on Mo Fei. He still lay quietly on the experimental bed, but now he was no longer the dying human warrior from before, but a super-soldier completely transformed by nanobots.

Professor Zhang walked over to Mo Fei, carefully observing his physical changes. Nanobots had completely replaced Mo Fei's cells, transforming his body into a mechanical entity full of strength and endurance.

This transformation not only enhanced Mo Fei's physical abilities but also endowed him with some special capabilities, such as more acute senses and stronger self-healing abilities.

Tian Ming also walked forward. Mo Fei's current body strength should be comparable to Qiu Qian's. Qiu Qian had obtained the consciousness of the God of Combat, while Mo Fei was a man-made superhuman.

This feeling was like natural diamonds and artificial diamonds; their efficacy was similar, but their meaning was completely different.

Mo Fei, lying on the experimental table, suddenly twitched. He opened his eyes and sat up. He took a deep breath, looking at all the components of his body, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

"It succeeded?" Mo Fei asked, looking bewildered.

"Yes, it succeeded!" Professor Zhang said with a smile, "You have now become a nanomechanical warrior. As long as your head is still intact, you can control the nanobots to reshape your body!"

Mo Fei sat up and moved his new body. He felt as if he had been reborn, filled with strength and vitality.

"Hmm, why do I feel like I haven't changed much? My body is pretty much the same as before." He said, placing his hand on the alloy bed frame.

His hand slowly turned into alloy, while the bed frame seemed to be corroded.

Mo Fei frowned; her hand returned to its fleshy color, and the corroded alloy bed frame also returned to its original state.

As Mo Fei's hand changed, everyone in the Laboratory watched in shock. They knew this was one of the special abilities after nanobot modification, allowing him to change the structure and material of his body as needed.

Professor Zhang looked at Mo Fei, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He knew that the success of this experiment would completely change the future of humanity. They had not only successfully applied nanobot technology to human body modification but also endowed ordinary people like Mo Fei with superhuman abilities.

"How do you feel now?" Professor Zhang asked, "Is there anywhere uncomfortable or anything you're not used to?"

Mo Fei moved his body, feeling the power surging within him. He shook his head and said, "No, I feel great, I just want to fight."

Mo Fei said, glancing at Tian Ming. That look seemed a bit provocative; Mo Fei, possessing a nanomechanical body, felt incredibly strong at this moment, not just strong, but even Tian Ming, he wanted to try his hand against him.

Tian Ming looked at Mo Fei's gaze, a smile appearing at the corner of his mouth, and asked, "What, judging by that look, you want to fight me?"

Mo Fei smiled calmly, "I want to try!"
