305: Things have changed
A hint of fear flashed in Green Devil's eyes, but he also realized that Tian Ming had blocked his ability to transmit messages via radio waves. He struggled desperately, trying to break free from Tian Ming's grasp.
However, his struggles seemed so futile in front of Tian Ming. The pressure in the air grew stronger and stronger; the more he struggled, the tighter the restraint became.
Green Devil finally understood the terrifying nature of this young human. He stopped struggling and chose to compromise. He took a deep breath and then nodded.
"If I answer your questions, you won't kill me, right?"
Tian Ming nodded and said, "Mm, I can guarantee I won't kill you."
"Alright, ask away!"
Tian Ming asked directly, "When I came in, the woman at the registration desk kept calling someone Lord Li. Is this Lord Li the leader of the corpse race in this area?"
Green Devil hesitated for a moment but still nodded: "Mm, he was appointed by my Emperor Jiang Chen. All members of our race in Su Yuan Base will obey Lord Li unconditionally."
"How many of these breeding bases are there in total?" Tian Ming continued to ask.
Green Devil's eyes flickered, seemingly pondering how to answer. But under Tian Ming's gaze, he still spoke: "There are sixty-eight in total."
Tian Ming nodded slightly. This Green Devil didn't seem to know how to lie. The number he gave was exactly the same as the information brought by the clone.
"How did the humans in these bases come to be here?" Tian Ming continued to ask.
Green Devil said, "They came from Su Yuan Base. Lord Li divided humans into four classes within Su Yuan Base."
"Which four classes?" Tian Ming asked with slight interest.
Green Devil looked at Tian Ming, a strange expression flashing across his face, but he continued to speak: "The first class are the original Underground City operation and management personnel. They will not become food and will enjoy the best treatment. The second class are people with specialized skills, such as doctors, engineers, etc. They are arranged to teach us knowledge and culture, to enlighten our race's intelligence. Most of them remain in their original positions. The third class, like those in this community, serve as tools for reproduction. The last class, which is also the majority, will have their lives decided by lottery, making sacrifices for the intellectual advancement of our race."
After listening, Tian Ming frowned deeply. This world had completely turned upside down. He wasn't afraid of powerful zombies; he was afraid of cultured zombies. If this continued, it would truly become, as Xin Xin said, a competition between two intelligent races, and a very obvious master-slave relationship existed.
"Then how many people does your corpse race sacrifice each day?"
Green Devil quickly said, "About a hundred people. This matter is allocated by Lord Li. Once the birth rate and death rate are equal, we will have a stable source of sacrifice."
Tian Ming's expression remained unchanged, because this method was basically no different from human animal husbandry. Once enough of the corpse race were intellectually enlightened, then the personnel within the base would truly be no different from livestock.
As the leader of the entire corpse race, Jiang Chen had a sufficiently long-term vision. They were currently learning from humans, and some highly educated people still had a place to survive. Once the corpse race mastered knowledge and also possessed scientific research capabilities, then the rest would be dumbed down and completely reduced to food.
Tian Ming nodded slightly and said, "Alright, I've finished my questions. I won't kill you."
A hint of joy appeared in Green Devil's eyes, but Tian Ming's next sentence instantly made Green Devil's mentality collapse.
Tian Ming glanced at Lisa, handed her an alloy forged knife, and slowly said, "I am a man of my word. I won't kill him, you do it!"
Lisa was speechless for a moment. How did this man suddenly become so cunning?
Seeing Lisa take the alloy forged knife, Green Devil angrily said, "Human Ability Users, you said you wouldn't kill me! How can you let someone else kill me? How can you lie?"
Tian Ming smiled and said, "I don't care about that. Anyway, I didn't kill you."
Lisa didn't waste any words. She took the alloy forged knife from Tian Ming's hand and walked step by step towards Green Devil.
Green Devil watched with wide eyes as the knife in Lisa's hand was raised high and then swung down fiercely towards his neck. His eyes were filled with fear and unwillingness, but all of it was meaningless.
With a dull thud, Green Devil's head rolled to the ground. The Nanometer Avatar alloy forged knife cut through metal like mud. Although the Corpse King had super strong recovery abilities, under Tian Ming's control, even the strongest recovery ability was useless. The headless Corpse King's body trembled slightly, and then it was lifeless.
Tian Ming looked at the corpse on the ground, and a Red Crystal Core slowly condensed. With a thought from Tian Ming, the Red Crystal Core was absorbed by the Third Clone, and a portion of the Red Crystal Core's energy was shared with Lisa.
The Third Nanometer Avatar, attached to Lisa, would take nearly 8 hours to absorb this Red Crystal Core. Currently, only the Second Clone had not absorbed a Red Crystal Core.
Tian Ming raised his hand and directly incinerated Green Devil's fallen corpse, and the Corpse King's presence in the room vanished. Eliminating the Corpse King in such an undetectable manner could minimize the potential for unrest.
While enjoying the impact of the Red Crystal Core energy, Lisa looked at Tian Ming and asked, "What should we do next?"
"Most people are safe now. Overall, the losses are controllable," Tian Ming said.
Although over a hundred people were sacrificed every day, if control was lost, it wouldn't just be these hundred-plus people dying; it could be many more.
Tian Ming was not prepared to destroy the corpse race's management structure. Anyway, the Red Crystal Core's enhancement to him was not very significant now. He could focus on cultivating the clones, while he himself continued to improve his strength through precise control.
"Let's rest here tonight and wait until the Third Clone has finished absorbing the Red Crystal Core," Tian Ming said, outlining his plan. "I'll have the First Clone assassinate Corpse Kings outside to enhance your strength and my clone's."
Lisa nodded and asked curiously, "Can your large clones be infinitely replicated?"
"Why do you ask that?" Tian Ming leaned against the edge of the bed and said.
"Just curious. If they could be infinitely replicated, and each clone absorbed a Red Crystal Core, then you wouldn't even need to act anymore. These clones could be atomized, possess intelligence, and be even harder to destroy easily."
Tian Ming smiled calmly: "They can be infinitely replicated, but it would increase my burden. Without these three clones, my recovery speed would far exceed my consumption, allowing for infinite endurance. These three clones make my recovery speed basically equal to my consumption. When I become stronger, I'll create a fourth clone. Clones absorbing Red Crystal Cores can reduce some of the clones' consumption on me. It's a bit like raising children; when children grow up and can go out to forage, they naturally reduce the parents' burden."
Lisa nodded slightly and said, "You mean that the more evolved your clones are, the less they consume from you?"
"Based on my current understanding of the clones, it's pretty much as you said."
