312: Al Qaeda gangs are rampant

Suyuan’s base should represent the general state of other fallen bases. When people under rule see no hope, the evil within humanity will be unleashed.

This entire area is self-governed, with zombies managing humans. As long as there aren’t large-scale casualties, they basically don’t interfere. It’s like being raised in a pen; besides distributing food, nothing else is managed. The originally clean and orderly base has become a chaotic mess after this period of devastation.

The two chatted along the way, with Jiang Xin constantly introducing the current situation of the base. When they arrived at the underground plaza, there was trash everywhere, and several men holding whips were supervising a group of disheveled people cleaning.

“What are they doing?” Tian Ming asked.

Jiang Xin said, “These people borrowed food and couldn’t get enough money, so they had to become slaves. The ones with whips are Luo Junhui’s men, the leader of this area. He manages over 60,000 people, and the daily death quota is only 10.”

Tian Ming frowned and asked, “What does this death quota mean?”

Jiang Xin’s mouth curved into a bitter smile: “The zombies want sustainable development, so they limit the daily reduction in each area. If too many die, then the leader will suffer. Although these people are ruthless, they won’t easily kill someone. If they manage well, the zombies will increase the food supply for that area. Perhaps the weekly sanitation inspection is coming, so it’s not surprising that they’re cleaning now.”

As they spoke, the two arrived at the civilian area’s management office. Two Metal Zombies guarded the entrance. Jiang Xin took out a blood bag from his worn-out backpack and waved it at the guards.

The zombie guards nodded slightly and let the two in. Some zombies, although not Corpse Kings, had gained a certain level of intelligence because they had previously consumed brain-enhancing food or had devoured their own kind.

Entering the management office, Tian Ming looked around. The environment here was better than outside, but the air was still filled with an uncomfortable stench of decay. Tian Ming could sense that there was no Corpse King in this management office; most were still humans, with a small portion of zombies, but all of them were relatively intelligent zombies.

The staff in the management office were all survivors dressed in worn clothes. The proportion of women was very low, and they were all older.

Jiang Xin led Tian Ming to a corner and whispered, “Lu, have you found the Corpse King?”

Tian Ming shook his head slightly and said, “No! Although the zombies here all have intelligence, there isn’t a particularly strong presence.”

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” A man, 1.8 meters tall, walked towards them.

Tian Ming turned to look at the man. He was 1.8 meters tall, with some muscles but not particularly developed, and a square face that looked relatively fair.

Jiang Xin quickly stepped forward and said, “My name is Jiang Xin, and I’m here to exchange for some food.” As he spoke, Jiang Xin shook the blood bag in his hand.

Seeing the blood bag, the man’s expression softened slightly, and he said to Jiang Xin, “Follow me, I’ll take you to the warehouse management.”

The warehouse manager was a man wearing glasses, with a pockmarked face, who looked quite shrewd. He glanced at the two, took the blood bag from Jiang Xin’s hand, and asked, “What do you need? We have pre-cooked rice, compressed biscuits, canned food, and instant noodles here.”

“What’s the exchange ratio now?” Jiang Xin asked.

“One to three. Your two blood bags, a total of 800 grams, can be exchanged for 2400 grams of food!”

The warehouse manager took the blood bag, then took out a bag of rice, a bag of flour, a can of food, and a packet of instant noodles from a corner, placing them on the table.

“These add up to exactly 2400 grams.” The manager put the blood bag away and handed the food to Jiang Xin.

Jiang Xin nodded slightly and put the food into his backpack. But the two did not choose to leave, and the manager’s face showed a hint of displeasure.

“I’ve already given you the food. You can leave now.”

At this moment, Tian Ming spoke: “Could you introduce us to the Corpse King of this area?”

“The Corpse King?” The manager was slightly stunned, looking at Tian Ming in confusion, then waved his hand and said, “I don’t have that ability. To see the Corpse King, you need to find Luo Junhui, the leader of this area. Only he is qualified to see the Corpse King. However, Luo Junhui is not someone you can just meet whenever you want.”

“That’s not necessarily true!” Tian Ming slapped the table, and with a bang, the table instantly cracked. The surrounding guards immediately moved closer.

The staff in the management office heard the commotion and seemed to be used to it.

“It looks like the zombie lords are going to have an extra meal again. These people are tired of living and are causing trouble again.”

“Forget it, the zombie lords don’t care about anything except dead people.”

Several guards moved closer to Tian Ming, holding batons, surrounding Tian Ming and Jiang Xin. Tian Ming’s expression remained unchanged; even using his superpowers, these people with batons were no match for him.

“What do you want to do?” The manager narrowed his eyes and asked cautiously.

“Nothing, just want to cause trouble. As long as the trouble is big enough, then Luo Junhui will come out to see us, right?” Tian Ming said slowly, a smile playing on his lips.

“Guards, arrest him.” At the manager’s command, the guards who had surrounded him immediately pounced on Tian Ming.

Tian Ming’s expression remained unchanged as he entered a high-speed state, and the guards’ movements were slowed down considerably. Tian Ming raised his hand, slapping one away, and in a short while, the guards were knocked to the ground. Tian Ming clapped his hands and looked at the manager.

The manager instantly cowered and quickly sent someone to find Luo Junhui. It wasn’t the first or second time someone had caused trouble in the management office, but every time, the troublemaker would suffer terribly.

But this person today was different. Although he didn’t look very strong, he was incredibly powerful when fighting.

Before long, a muscular man with a scar on his face walked over, accompanied by several of his subordinates. Hearing that someone was causing trouble in the management office, how could he, as the strong one here, not intervene? So he brought his men over.

Tian Ming, meanwhile, sat in the manager’s seat, leisurely waiting for him. When he saw the man arrive, he did not stand up.

Luo Junhui’s face was cold as he swept his gaze over the unconscious guards on the floor, then looked at Tian Ming sitting in the manager’s seat. He couldn’t help but wonder, who exactly was this kid? He had such powerful strength, he simply didn’t seem human.

“Causing trouble on my territory, are you tired of living?” Luo Junhui asked coldly.
