91: Basic communication completed
Tian Ming stepped forward and saw the four red dots moving back and forth many times.
“Damn it, they’re stealing from me.”
Shen Yuan chuckled and said, “I estimate these people will come again. It’s obvious they came down from the mountains in the northeast. They don’t have transportation, and with the snow blocking the mountains, they haven’t thought about entering the city.”
“Is there a possibility they aren’t entering the city because they don’t dare to?” Tian Ming pondered for a moment and asked.
“Very likely!” Shen Yuan nodded and said. She pondered for a moment and continued, “It can be confirmed now that these four people all possess abilities, possibly related to the zombie virus, but they have retained their consciousness and haven’t been cleansed into zombies.”
“Can you monitor this continuously?” Tian Ming asked.
Shen Yuan nodded and said, “Yes, I’ve covered the entire Shelter with wireless, allowing for real-time monitoring.”
“Good, these next few nights, I’ll play ‘waiting for the rabbit’ with them. Damn it, there’s so much material in the city, but they come here to steal.”
Shen Yuan put down her computer and started eating. She directly connected the computer to the satellite system, and the real-time footage was updated every three seconds.
With a creak, the door to the ward was pushed open, and Zhang Mengqi entered, excitedly saying, “Shen Yuan, I’ve completed the Shelter’s communication system.”
Seeing Tian Ming was also there, Zhang Mengqi immediately became more reserved.
“Boss!” Zhang Mengqi greeted him.
Tian Ming smiled faintly, and the chair automatically moved beside Zhang Mengqi. The sudden movement of the chair startled Zhang Mengqi.
Shen Yuan covered her mouth and laughed, saying, “Don’t be afraid, the Boss’s superpowers are getting more and more creative.”
“Is your communication system set up?” Tian Ming asked.
Zhang Mengqi sat down, nodded slightly, and said, “Yes, Boss, my system is compatible with the previous mobile communication network. It now shares a server with the Shelter. Currently, one base station can handle 100,000 devices of various types.”
Tian Ming frowned and said, “In the 5G era, a single base station could handle millions. Now 6G is commercialized, so why has it decreased instead?”
Could this so-called communication expert be trying to fool him? A device load capacity of 100,000 would certainly be enough for the Shelter. But for Tian Ming, this number felt like it had shrunk.
Shen Yuan said, “Connecting is one thing. Simultaneous data download and upload, and coordination between devices, all require a large amount of computation. For our Shelter’s small host, for Sister Mengqi to optimize it like this is already very impressive, Boss, you can’t be insatiable!”
Tian Ming rolled his eyes at Shen Yuan and said, “Only you understand. Isn’t it just that you want me to change the server? Your server already consumes half of the Shelter’s electricity. It’s not that I won’t add more, but our power generation isn’t quite enough.”
Shen Yuan pouted, turning her head away somewhat unconvinced, and softly hummed.
Tian Ming looked at Zhang Mengqi and asked, “Since it’s done, does that mean we won’t need walkie-talkies anymore?”
“Uh, well, I’ve prepared six small base stations that need your help, Boss, to install them on the rooftops of each floor. This way, they can basically cover the entire Shelter,” Zhang Mengqi said.
Tian Ming didn’t hesitate, stood up, and said, “Let’s go, I’ll install the base stations for you.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Yuan quickly got out of the hospital bed.
“What are you doing? Why are you so excited?” Tian Ming glanced at Shen Yuan, his tone carrying a hint of disdain.
“I want to go see too…”
“See what? Stay put. Zhang Mengqi and I can go. People with colds are never well-behaved.”
Tian Ming glared at Shen Yuan and walked directly out of the ward. Zhang Mengqi scurried to follow him; she dared not offend Tian Ming.
In the ward, only Shen Yuan remained. She gritted her teeth in frustration but obediently stayed in the ward and did not go out.
Tian Ming followed Zhang Mengqi to the Laboratory and took out all the base stations. These base stations were miniaturized, magically modified versions with low power consumption, but very suitable for the current Shelter.
With Tian Ming’s help, the wiring was done extremely quickly. With fiber optics for communication and power supply, basically wherever Tian Ming went, the wires were laid.
Two base stations were allocated in the Central Building, one in the Talent Building, and two in the dormitory area. The most powerful one was directly mounted on the floating airship.
Of course, it was connected on the ground, and then Tian Ming flew it up to mount it directly.
Flying to a thousand meters high for the first time, Tian Ming looked down, and his heart trembled.
“It’s too damn high.” Tian Ming shook his head, hung the base station, connected it to the reserved solar power supply, and then pulled the fiber optic cable down along the carbon fiber anchoring cable.
After finishing all this, Tian Ming returned to the control room. At this point, Zhang Mengqi was already debugging.
The six signal sources in the Shelter needed to be debugged for coordination, which would truly complete the setup.
Zhang Mengqi felt a bit emotional. If it weren’t for the Boss’s help, it would have been impossible for the Shelter to use a communication system.
The work originally estimated to take three days was completed in just two hours with Tian Ming’s assistance.
“Boss, our communication system is now set up.”
After Zhang Mengqi finished debugging, she handed a communication headset to Tian Ming.
“What is this?” Tian Ming held the headset. It was small but very futuristic.
“This is our Shelter’s Commander communication device. It has a separate channel. Boss, please help duplicate a batch, I’ll debug them centrally and then distribute them to important personnel within the Shelter,” Zhang Mengqi said.
Tian Ming nodded and said, “Okay, but the power supply for this should be quite troublesome, right?”
Zhang Mengqi shook her head and said, “With a wireless charging battery compartment, its standby time can reach 213 hours, and with heavy use, it can last 48 hours. For the Shelter, that’s enough.”
“Hmm, okay.” Tian Ming picked up a set and immediately began duplicating. The duplication speed was extremely fast, and half an hour later, he had duplicated five hundred headsets. In fact, there weren’t that many management personnel in the Shelter, but it’s always good to be prepared, and the rest would be distributed later.
Zhang Mengqi immediately got busy. She picked up a dozen headsets, powered them on, matched frequencies, wrote programs, added devices to the communication channel, and then established the communication network.
She was busy for over an hour before Zhang Mengqi finished debugging all the headsets.
“Boss, the headsets have built-in voice recognition chips. I’ve assigned each device to an individual. By default, it’s full-band, and you can use your voice to enter a single band.”
Tian Ming was startled and asked, “How exactly does it work?” Tian Ming said, putting on the headset.
Zhang Mengqi smiled slightly and said, “I’ll demonstrate it for you, and you’ll know.” Saying that, she picked up her own headset and put it on.
Zhang Mengqi gently touched the headset and said, “Single band, Boss.”
Tian Ming’s headset immediately played a voice: “Zhang Mengqi requests a call. To connect immediately, please lightly touch the headset’s metal band.”
Tian Ming raised his hand and lightly touched it, and Zhang Mengqi’s voice came through the headset: “Boss, this is how you establish a band, isn’t it convenient?”
