282: Zombie Riot
The bomber groups departed, and more than half of the zombies on the outskirts of Lianzhou Base had been cleared.
The zombie hordes closer to the defense line were also quickly cleared by Tian Ming. The situation at Lianzhou Base temporarily stabilized.
Tian Ming stood within the defense line, looking at the zombies that had been wiped out by the bomber groups, filled with emotion.
The zombies, which had originally surged like a tide, were scattered and fragmented under the intense bombing of the bomber groups. Zombie bodies, severed limbs, shredded flesh, and internal organs were strewn everywhere.
A foul stench permeated the battlefield, mixing with rolling thick smoke and towering flames, creating a tragic tableau.
"Can Beidu provide another aerial support?" Tian Ming asked through the communication channel.
The Commander of Lianzhou quickly replied, "No, we just received news from Alliance Headquarters. Alliance Headquarters and other bases have experienced large-scale zombie riots. Northwest Base has already been breached, and contact with Headquarters has been lost."
Tian Ming was stunned. Zombies across the entire continent attacking various Alliance bases simultaneously—what was the meaning of this? One must know that the number of zombies across the continent reached billions. Such a large-scale riot had far exceeded the Alliance's ability to cope.
Just as Tian Ming was wondering, the voice of Lin Yao, the General Commander of Beidu Base, came through the communication channel.
"Tian Ming, are you there? Come to Beidu. Jiang Chen is leading thousands of Corpse Kings and has surrounded Beidu Base. He specifically demanded to see you, otherwise, he will destroy the entire Alliance at all costs." Lin Yao's voice was anxious; he directly contacted Tian Ming through a long-range channel.
Tian Ming's brows furrowed. The relocation of personnel from Lianzhou Base had indeed touched Jiang Chen's nerve. Across the entire continent, besides Jiang Chen, no other Corpse Emperor could cause such a widespread zombie riot.
Tian Ming nodded and said, "The situation here in Lianzhou is critical. If I leave, there will inevitably be heavy losses here."
Lin Yao's voice came again: "Jiang Chen said that as long as you come, he can order all zombies to stop attacking."
"Okay, first, let him prove that he has the ability to control all zombies on the continent! As soon as the zombies here stop attacking, I'll rush over immediately," Tian Ming calmly responded through the communication channel.
Lin Yao hesitated for a moment, clearly communicating with Jiang Chen. After a while, Lin Yao's voice came again: "Tian Ming, Jiang Chen agreed. His command will be transmitted layer by layer, and in about five minutes, the zombies will stop attacking Lianzhou Base. Get ready, I'll wait for you to come."
Tian Ming took a deep breath and waited.
Five minutes passed. Tian Ming stood on the defense line, nervously watching the zombie horde. Suddenly, the zombie horde's attack stopped. They seemed to have received some command, retreating a certain distance in an orderly fashion, then standing still.
Seeing this, Tian Ming felt even more worried. Jiang Chen's mind control ability was too strong; all zombies treated Jiang Chen with absolute obedience, yet Tian Ming was powerless against Jiang Chen.
Tian Ming's figure vanished from his original spot, and he rapidly moved towards Beidu. In less than two minutes, Tian Ming appeared in Beidu's airspace. On top of the ground entrance building of Beidu Base, Jiang Chen sat on the edge of a turret, while Lin Yao stood nearby, his face ashen.
Below the tall buildings were dense masses of zombies, filling the entire area. The sight of tens of millions of Beidu zombies moving in unison was so overwhelming that even from satellite orbit, one could see the dark, oppressive mass on the ground.
How to fight? It was impossible to fight. Even a mutual destruction was unattainable.
As Tian Ming descended, a hint of a smile appeared on Jiang Chen's face. After only half a month apart, Jiang Chen had evolved to be indistinguishable from a human, but Tian Ming knew that this Corpse Emperor was a man-eating monster. At least in human eyes, Jiang Chen was a monster.
"You finally came!" Jiang Chen looked at Tian Ming with a hint of a playful smile, his face showing no fear whatsoever.
"What do you mean? Are you provoking me?" Tian Ming asked coldly.
Jiang Chen gently shook his head, his smile deepening, "My subordinate in Lianzhou reported that the personnel of Lianzhou Base began a large-scale southward migration, saying they were going to a territory controlled by a Superpower User. Hmm, I thought it should be led by you. Now it seems that is indeed the case."
A cold glint flashed in Tian Ming's eyes: "Are you here to make a stand or to negotiate with me?"
Jiang Chen, however, smiled indifferently: "In the eyes of humans, I may be a monster, but in the eyes of zombies, I am a god. I have the ability to control them, to make them obey my commands. And you, you don't have such treatment among humans. How many people can you save? Millions of survivors, can you save half? Or even a third?"
"Stop with the nonsense!" Tian Ming interrupted Jiang Chen.
"What exactly do you want to do?"
Jiang Chen's smile faded: "What I want to do, you should be very clear. I want you to join us. Let's jointly manage our human ranch. You provide me with food, and I'll provide you with Red Crystal Cores. As long as you are willing, I can immediately stop this siege."
Lin Yao, standing nearby, had sweat beading on his forehead. If Tian Ming were to nod at this moment, then humanity would truly be finished. A Corpse Emperor, plus an all-element Ability User. The entire Alliance, even all the survivors in the world, would never have a chance to rise again.
Tian Ming's eyes gleamed with cold light, and he spoke slowly, each word as firm as a knife cut, "I am human. Even if less than a tenth of the Alliance's population remains, I believe no one would choose to surrender. This is the dignity of being human."
Jiang Chen's face gradually darkened, his smile completely vanishing, replaced by a ruthless expression. He slowly stood up and met Tian Ming's gaze, "Then, I can only solve the problem my way."
Jiang Chen's figure disappeared, and hundreds of millions of zombies across the continent rioted. Twelve large bases of the entire Alliance were almost simultaneously attacked. Tian Ming's direct refusal would clearly cause the entire Alliance to collapse.
The Beidu Base Command Center issued an all-out attack order. All missiles in the armory were launched, the mountain shelters opened, and all energy of the entire base was supplied to weapons.
Lasers several meters in diameter directly pierced through the zombie hordes. The terrifying high temperature vaporized countless zombies instantly. Subsequently, large numbers of transport planes carried scientific researchers and important Alliance personnel to evacuate.
All bases across the continent were making their final stand. Within the limited time, they were trying to secure a glimmer of hope as much as possible.
At this moment, whether Tian Ming participated in the battle or not was no longer significant. The Alliance had truly reached a point of life or death this time. They could only survive by severing a limb, abandoning the original bases, and all personnel were gathering towards the Donghai City defense line.
Those personnel and bases that could not be evacuated would inevitably become zombie breeding grounds. With a leader like Jiang Chen, the zombies had also become orderly and rational.
