301: Although the ability is good, it is useless
Lisa seemed to see through Tian Ming’s thoughts and said, “I know what you’re thinking. I can tell you that I can send you to our family’s secret base. But I can only open it once a day, and it only lasts for 0.2 seconds. If I send you over, how will you get back? My psychic teleportation spatial channel is currently one-way; to come back, I would have to go with you.”
Tian Ming frowned, immediately abandoning the idea of rescuing Shen Yuan; the time was too short. It would be difficult to succeed, so he turned and continued walking forward.
“Forget it, I’ll rely on myself. No one can be relied upon.”
Lisa quickly caught up and said, “As long as you give me enough Red Crystal Core energy, I can extend the duration of the psychic teleportation channel. So, I’m following you because I want to help you rescue Shen Yuan. Didn’t my father release a video? I saw the Laboratory scene, and I can directly connect the teleportation channel to the Laboratory.”
Tian Ming sneered and said, “Your father is full of schemes. What if he transfers Shen Yuan to another place? We’d go there for nothing, teleport over, and instantly the entire base would be blown sky-high by a nuclear explosion. I don’t want to joke with Shen Yuan’s life and my child’s life.”
Tian Ming said this, but in his heart, he didn’t believe Lisa would help him rescue someone. No matter what, Duke Lawrence was her father.
“Why won’t you trust me? The Lawrence Family’s assets are all in your hands now, so why do you still guard against us as if we’re outsiders?” Lisa asked helplessly.
“You are outsiders. Only when your generation dies out might the next generation truly commit. Without two or three generations, don’t expect to become one of us.”
Ethnic integration is a trend; in Eastern history, how many foreign groups became part of us? But this takes time. So, first-generation people like Lisa would not gain Tian Ming’s trust.
“What will it take for you to trust me? I really don’t want my father to make any more mistakes. It’s also because of him that the Lawrence Family members in your hands live in fear every day, do you know that? There’s no way to resist such a life; I’m afraid that once Shen Yuan leaves, you’ll make the entire family accompany Shen Yuan to her grave.”
Tian Ming stopped, looked at Lisa, and said, “You’re following me because you need Red Crystal Cores to improve your strength, right? But can you directly absorb Red Crystal Cores?”
Seeing Tian Ming’s attitude soften slightly, Lisa quickly said, “You can help me crush the Red Crystal Cores; I can absorb purified Red Crystal Core energy.”
Tian Ming pondered for a moment, then nodded and said, “Alright, let’s give it a try.”
If the psychic teleportation ability could last longer and have a shorter cooldown, it would be of great use to Tian Ming. Now, blue Red Crystal Cores are not very useful to him, so he doesn’t mind giving them to Lisa to enhance her strength. Naturally, he also isn’t afraid of Lisa playing any tricks.
Seeing Tian Ming agree to let her try, Lisa’s hanging heart finally settled. The two walked together toward the front of the street.
Beside Tian Ming, a mass of black mist appeared, and a large avatar composed of Nanometer Avatars emerged beside Tian Ming. This large avatar had an extremely stern face and silently followed Tian Ming without a word.
A roar came from ahead, and a dense horde of zombies appeared. Tian Ming had, of course, already sensed the presence of the zombie horde—a total of over 300 zombies and one small Corpse King.
Lisa’s face was full of vigilance, and she said, “There are zombies. Prepare to fight.”
Tian Ming, however, waved his hand and said, “Just watch the show, don’t interfere. These are all tools for me to practice with.”
Tian Ming was already very proficient in material manipulation, but he wasn’t as skilled at manipulating energy through matter. Lasers, in essence, are produced by the excitation and transition of particle energy levels.
Tian Ming compressed particles together, directly causing them to vibrate into a super high-energy state, and when the particles were out of control, they would spontaneously fall to a low-energy level. The energy would be released in the form of light, and this is how Tian Ming indirectly manipulated energy.
However, what annoyed Tian Ming was that the release direction could not be focused, greatly reducing the laser’s lethality. This required a lot of time to adjust and integrate the scattered laser directions into a single beam to improve the killing power.
Crack! Tian Ming raised his hand, and a flash of light appeared on his hand, feeling like the flash of an old camera’s magnesium lamp from centuries ago—blindingly bright, but useless, with no killing power whatsoever.
Tian Ming was slightly embarrassed and again concentrated on releasing a second beam of light. This time, Tian Ming managed to control the laser into a beam, but it was like a strong flashlight, with the edges scattering severely.
“Are you trying to turn into a human laser?” Lisa seemed to understand something and asked.
“Hmm, you noticed?” Tian Ming said, then another laser pulse shot out from the front of his palm. This laser pulse was severely scattered and very thick, the light beam directly shining on the head of a zombie in front.
There was still energy; in an instant, it completely singed the zombie’s hair, turning it bald. The Corpse King, seeing how weak the Ability Users on the other side were, immediately relaxed and commanded the zombie horde to attack Tian Ming with a barrage of gibberish.
Tian Ming was still trying to focus the laser; only with high focus would the energy concentrate and have true killing power. After several more laser pulses, they couldn’t kill the zombies, but several zombies were smoking.
In a short while, the zombie horde was only twenty to thirty meters away from Tian Ming.
Lisa said, “Stop trying, they’re coming.”
Before Lisa’s voice even fell, countless carbon fibers shot out from the ground, like vines, tightly binding all the zombies.
Tian Ming conjured a wicker chair, sat down, raised his hand, and continued practicing pulse lasers on the immobilized zombies. If it didn’t work once, then twice; if twice didn’t work, then ten times, a hundred times, a thousand times.
Time passed bit by bit, and Tian Ming continuously fired laser pulses at the zombies. His hand waved in the air, and with each wave, a laser pulse was released. The zombies were firmly fixed in place, unable to move, only able to watch helplessly as the laser pulses left charred marks on their bodies.
The Corpse King was the only one with intelligence. Seeing this guy tormenting his subjects like this, the Corpse King cursed loudly.
“Human Ability Users, if you want to kill, then kill! How long do you want to play like this? It’s too terrifying for zombies.”
Tian Ming nodded repeatedly and said, “Don’t rush, I’m trying hard, aren’t I? Don’t you see? The charred marks I’m leaving are getting smaller and smaller…”
