248: Force someone to do something

The entire venue was silent, and Lin Yao looked directly at Tian Ming, who was utterly bewildered.

Lin Yao then said, "Our experts conducted radiation research on the Corpse King, proving that nuclear weapons have a strong accelerating effect on the evolution of zombies. Although humanity's strongest atomic weapons can eliminate a large number of zombies, the zombies that survive will be even stronger. Currently, the only method is physical elimination."

As Lin Yao's words fell, the venue was silent once more.

"There are billions of zombies on the surface, and globally, there are nearly seven billion zombies. Some Corpse Kings already possess intelligence not inferior to humans, and some of their abilities even surpass our Ability Users. If we want to survive this crisis, we can only confront the zombies head-on."

Lin Yao's words made everyone fall into deep thought.

Tian Ming frowned slightly and looked at Shen Yuan. Shen Yuan showed no reaction, clearly not surprised by Lin Yao's words.

"I know that many people are skeptical about the outcome of this war. This is a long-term struggle. Those present, especially some of those with abilities, understand better than I do what kind of world you will face in the future." Lin Yao's gaze swept over everyone present as he slowly spoke.

The projection on the table showed a proposal for the establishment of a Super Legion, and the faces of the Alliance Base leaders were not pleasant.

Ability Users, especially Superpower Users, are scarce in the Alliance. This proposal was to draw First-Class Ability Users and Superpower Users from various bases to form humanity's top combat force. The legion formed by this top combat force would primarily serve to contain high-level Corpse Kings and eliminate them, reducing pressure on the various Alliance Bases.

However, such a transfer would undoubtedly weaken the internal defense forces of each base, and in some bases, critical materials are even provided by Superpower Users aggregating elements.

No one spoke. As the core of the entire Alliance, the Beidu Base's decision was seen as extremely risky and radical by everyone.

"Now, let's vote. Representatives of bases willing to participate in the Super Legion's construction, please cast your votes."

The silence in the venue was broken. Everyone exchanged glances, their hesitation and worry clearly visible. This decision meant that a large number of Ability Users would be transferred, which was a huge challenge to the safety of each base.

Tian Ming glanced at Shen Yuan: "Little Yuan, should we vote yes?"

Shen Yuan's face flushed, and she said, "You're the boss, you decide."

Tian Ming pouted and said, "That old man kept looking at me when he was speaking. I always feel like something bad is about to happen."

Ouyang Jie, who was nearby, said, "The person in charge of the Super Legion will probably fall to you?"

Tian Ming was startled and quickly said, "Absolutely not. I'm fine fighting alone, but asking me to command a legion? I don't think I have that much ability."

Tian Ming said this not out of modesty. Being the strongest in combat power does not mean one can lead an army. Tian Ming was well aware of his own capabilities; asking him to contribute and fight Corpse Kings was no problem, but asking him to be a Commander? He'd rather not.

Just then, the voting results on the projection screen began to change, with representatives from various bases casting their votes. Some bases chose to support, while others chose to oppose.

Ultimately, the voting results came out: the votes in favor of establishing the Super Legion exceeded the opposing votes, but it was not an overwhelming victory. This meant that in the coming days, the Alliance would face immense challenges.

Lin Yao looked at the voting results and took a deep breath: "Those who voted against, do you only see immediate benefits? If we don't curb the evolution of zombies, all survivors will become food for the zombies. We have gathered some intelligence; high-level Corpse Kings are already raising humans as livestock. These captive humans are their grand meal for intellectual evolution."

At this, a base representative raised his hand and requested to speak.

The representative stood up and said with a solemn expression, "Firstly, we understand the Alliance's concerns. But we must face the current reality: drawing a large number of Ability Users to form the Super Legion will inevitably lead to a significant decrease in the defensive capabilities of our respective bases. Once zombies seize the opportunity, the consequences would be unimaginable. Currently, personnel in the Alliance Base are too concentrated, and the bases are too far apart, scattered across various locations, making it impossible to provide timely support."

Another female representative also raised her hand.

She stood up and said, "This is not a simple multiple-choice question. There are many ordinary people in the base who have no abilities. What about their safety? We cannot only consider winning the war; we must also consider the survival of every individual."

Silence fell over the venue once more. Lin Yao looked at these speaking representatives, understanding their concerns. Soon, another proposal appeared before the representatives, titled the Underground Great Wall Project. It proposed building high-speed underground tunnels to connect all Alliance Bases into a single entity.

This plan was quite bold. If the bases were simply connected, the total length of the tunnels would exceed ten thousand kilometers. Even if all bases started construction simultaneously, using the most efficient tunneling machines, it would likely take over a year.

Building underground transportation tunnels is much slower than building high-speed rail on the surface, and there are many challenges to face. Firstly, positioning is a problem, and the technical difficulty is extremely high.

Lin Yao said, "This proposal has already undergone feasibility studies. Let's proceed with the vote first."

The Underground Great Wall Project was quickly accepted by everyone and voted on. The tunnel construction was unanimously approved. At the very least, once completed, material sharing between Alliance Bases would no longer need to go through the surface.

Material transportation over the surface is easily attacked by zombies, especially certain Corpse King-level zombies whose thrown rocks are like cannonballs.

Everyone actually understood that this proposal was essentially paving the way for the Super Legion's construction. With stable transportation arteries, each base could leverage its own advantages, and the entire Alliance could concentrate its efforts on major undertakings.

Lin Yao scanned the room and said, "Next, the third item: the proposed list of candidates for the Super Legion's Commander and related personnel. The names on the list are all registered Superpower Users who have given their consent. This is for public display. If anyone has objections, please raise them now."

As Lin Yao's voice fell, the list appeared on the projection. Tian Ming merely glanced at it before raising his hand.

"I have an objection," Tian Ming stood up and said.

Lin Yao looked at Tian Ming and asked indifferently, "What is your objection?"

"First, I am not a member of the Super Soldier Project. Second, the Donghai City Shelter cannot be compared to other Alliance Bases at all; I do not want to be tied down by internal matters of the Super Legion. Third, ..."

Lin Yao waved his hand, interrupting him: "Look closely, what is your position?"

Tian Ming took a look and was immediately stunned!

"High... Senior Instructor?"
