413: Weapon of your choice

Iron Dude felt a shock in his heart as he listened to Qiu Wuhui's description. He hadn't expected the base's technology to have advanced to such an extent.

"Mechanical ascension? You really turned into a robot?" A hint of surprise was revealed in Iron Dude's voice.

Qiu Wuhui nodded, smiling as he said, "Something like that. However, my consciousness is still preserved, so I am still me. It's just that my body is no longer the original one."

Iron Dude was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "Wuhui, isn't it good to be human?"

"The human body is too fragile. This world is no longer the world it once was. Only by being strong yourself can you survive. Iron Dude, don't you agree?"

Iron Dude nodded slightly; he knew Qiu Wuhui was right.

"Iron Dude, what are your plans next?" Qiu Wuhui asked.

Iron Dude was silent for a moment, then said, "The mental contract has been lifted. I won't approach the base again after leaving this time. From now on, there will be zombies everywhere. We won't see each other again."

When Qiu Wuhui heard Iron Dude say this, a trace of sadness flashed in his eyes, and he heavily patted Iron Dude's shoulder.

"Iron Dude, although our paths may be different, we fought together."

Iron Dude looked at Qiu Wuhui and whispered, "Mm, I'll remember you as a friend."

After speaking, Iron Dude turned and left. Qiu Wuhui watched Iron Dude's back gradually disappear from his sight, and a strange feeling of emotion welled up in his heart.

"He's gone!" A voice appeared behind Qiu Wuhui. Qiu Wuhui quickly turned his head and, seeing Tian Ming looking at him, immediately greeted him.

"Boss, I, I succeeded!" Qiu Wuhui said excitedly.

Tian Ming's expression was calm; he nodded: "Let's go, I have something to tell you!"

The success rate of nano-modification was not actually very high. Qiu Wuhui's modification was actually a failure. The current Qiu Wuhui was actually a combination of his consciousness backup and a clone's brain that underwent nano-modification. His original consciousness had already dissipated due to the failure.

With his consciousness backed up, Qiu Wuhui himself wouldn't feel anything was wrong, but for sensitive people, even an identical consciousness could be distinguished. This distinction was very mysterious, hard to explain clearly.

Seeing Tian Ming's stern face, Qiu Wuhui didn't dare to speak and followed Tian Ming into the armory, a hint of curiosity and excitement flashing in his eyes.

The armory's interior was spacious and bright, with various advanced weapons hanging on the walls, shimmering with a cold light. He knew that these weapons were the latest research achievements of the base, and each possessed powerful might.

"Choose for yourself. I've seen you use guns a lot; you're not very suitable for close combat," Tian Ming said.

"Boss, I can choose any of these weapons?" Qiu Wuhui couldn't help but ask.

Tian Ming nodded and said, "Mm, choose whatever you like; they're all enhanced by me."

Qiu Wuhui rubbed his hands excitedly and walked towards the weapon pool. He walked to the wall and carefully took down a super-long sniper rifle. He felt the heavy weight in his hands, and a hint of excitement flashed in his eyes.

This weapon, named "Shadow," was a particle sniper rifle. It didn't use ammunition but was driven by a heavy proton core storage unit combined with an alternating gravitational field formed by a gravity weng.

The barrel alone was 1.2 meters long and weighed about eighty kilograms, equipped with a small isotope battery. Based on the characteristics of the gravity weng, this thing only needed a small amount of energy to activate. However, the heavy proton storage unit needed to be charged within the force field, which took time, so the rate of fire was not high, only one shot per minute.

Its power was extremely strong, and it could not be mass-produced. It was used as a sniper rifle for precise killing.

Qiu Wuhui held the "Shadow" sniper rifle, feeling its substantial weight, his eyes full of excitement.

"Boss, I'll take this one. I was skilled with sniping before, so this is easier to get started with."

Tian Ming nodded and said to Qiu Wuhui, "Go, try this gun at the training ground."

"Mm!"

At the training ground, Qiu Wuhui carefully calibrated the "Shadow" and then aimed at a distant target. His movements were practiced, and he gently pulled the trigger. There was no muzzle flash, and even the recoil was very small. A slender particle beam instantly pierced through the air, accurately hitting the target.

The target was three layers of ten-millimeter thick steel plates with composite fiber material in between, incredibly thick, but the high-energy particle beam, charged by the gravity weng, had immense power.

Qiu Wuhui watched as the distant target was instantly penetrated by the high-energy particle beam, and a strong sense of satisfaction welled up in his heart.

As a particle sniper rifle, the "Shadow" naturally possessed extraordinary power. It did not require traditional ammunition but relied on a heavy proton core storage unit and an alternating gravitational field formed by a gravity weng for propulsion.

This unique propulsion method allowed the "Shadow" to produce a high-energy particle beam when fired. This particle beam possessed extremely strong penetrative and destructive power. Even several layers of thick steel plates and composite fiber materials were like paper in the face of the high-energy particle beam, easily penetrated.

"How is it, pretty good?" Tian Ming asked.

"The recoil is very small, it's more stable, and its penetration is very strong. I estimate that even a Corpse King wouldn't be able to withstand a headshot from this gun. It has penetration, but a bit less destructive power. Charging takes at least a minute, which requires the person using this gun to have very strong individual combat capabilities," Qiu Wuhui commented.

Tian Ming nodded and said, "These weapons have very obvious advantages and disadvantages, so they require super soldiers to wield them. Take a break, then go pick up your sister."

When Qiu Wuhui heard Tian Ming mention his sister, he asked, "Where is my sister located now?"

"Qiu Qian is trapped behind the Linshan Defense Line. There are too many zombies, hindering their progress. It would be better to go and meet her," Tian Ming said.

"Okay, I'll go now," Qiu Wuhui said, then picked up his gun and prepared to leave.

"Wait, have Bai Yan send a few mechs to go with you. The zombies are unusually fierce now. Going to pick someone up with a sniper rifle that has such a slow rate of fire is just asking for death."

Qiu Wuhui nodded repeatedly and said, "Okay, Boss, I'll go to the Combat Command Room right away."

Tian Ming's clones only had the First Clone remaining outside. The Second Clone was with Xiao Xiao, and the Third Clone was the intelligent brain. The Fourth and Fifth Clones were dispersed into countless nanobots throughout the entire base. Tian Ming had already witnessed the power of infinite reproduction.

With the mechanical legion defending on the ground, Tian Ming wasn't very worried. With a million mechanical legionnaires and a complete air defense system, no matter how many zombies there were, it would be difficult for them to attack from the ground and threaten the base.

But what he feared most was beneath the ground. If a Mother were to sneak in, that would be very troublesome. The Underground City of Donghai City was vast, and the greatest fear was an event like a zombie invasion.
